HORLOGE ATELIER FABRICATION - MANUFACTURE VUILLEMIN

This is not a Concept Store …

It’s a  MANUFACTORY !

GO TO PRODUCTION

On the outskirts of Besançon, the historic capital of watchmaking, Manufacture Vuillemin is a sanctuary where French horological savoir-faire is perpetuated. By mastering every stage—from the meticulous production of components to final assembly—we guarantee the authenticity and excellence of our creations. Indeed, we do not just manufacture clocks; we give birth to pieces that rhythm time and tell a story.

The Mechanical Workshop: The Heart of our Expertise

Our mechanical workshop is the true heart of our manufacture. Here, time has no hold. Antique machines, witnesses to a centuries-old watchmaking tradition, work alongside modern equipment to produce parts of absolute precision.

We manufacture nearly all components of our clock mechanisms, such as wheels, pinions, and axles, while respecting the techniques of yesteryear. Furthermore, a dedicated space is also devoted to the production of traditional brass pendulums.

For the rare elements that we do not produce in-house, we collaborate with local artisans, thereby strengthening the Made in France value chain.

The Assembly Workshop: Creating a Mechanical Clock

In our workshops bathed in natural light, our skilled watchmakers work with passion. On their workbenches, components come to life as gears are assembled to form complex movements. Every gesture is precise; every part has its role in this mechanical dance that creates time.

This total mastery grants us unique expertise: because we know how to build a clock, we also know how to repair one. This profound understanding allows us to breathe new life into antique mechanisms and ensure the longevity of our creations.

The Test Bench: The Rigor of Control

Our test bench is the ultimate stage of the process. Each clock undergoes a battery of intensive tests for 8 days. This extreme rigor is our promise: to offer you a clock that is a masterpiece of reliability and durability.

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

Since taking over the Manufacture in 2010, Philippe Vuillemin has broken free from the conventional codes of French mechanical horology while strictly respecting traditional manufacturing methods. Rather than conforming to standard norms, he allows his inspiration to flourish through creative encounters with artists.

The choice to continue manufacturing mechanical clocks in the digital age is, in itself, an act of rupture. It opposes the dematerialization of time by offering a sensory and tactile experience. By creating pieces that blend a unique heritage with a resolutely modern aesthetic, Manufacture Vuillemin asserts itself as a key player in the watchmaking of tomorrow, proving that originality is the engine of longevity.

The fusion of craftsmanship and fine art gives birth to objects of singular originality. The craftsman, guardian of ancestral expertise, brings technical mastery, knowledge of materials, and precision of movement. The artist, an explorer of creativity, is free from technical constraints. He breathes in a vision, an emotion, and a departure from the ordinary.

The resulting object is no longer a simple utilitarian piece; it becomes a hybrid creation—an “Artisanat d’Art” (Artistic Craft). It is a dialogue where the craftsman places his expertise at the service of the artist’s vision. This synergy pushes the boundaries of tradition while giving it a new breath of modernity. The result is a unique piece that stands as a testament to technical prowess and emotion—a living work of art, rich in meaning and aesthetic beauty.
