This is not a Concept Store …
It’s a MANUFACTORY !
GO TO PRODUCTION
On the outskirts of Besançon, the historic capital of clockmaking, the Manufacture Vuillemin is a sanctuary where French watchmaking expertise is kept alive. By mastering every step, from the meticulous production of components to the final assembly, we guarantee the authenticity and excellence of our creations. We don’t just make clocks; we bring to life pieces that set the rhythm of time and tell a story.
The Mechanical Workshop: The heart of our expertise
Our mechanical workshop is the true heart of our manufacture. Here, time has no hold. Antique machines, witnesses to a centuries-old horological tradition, work alongside modern equipment to create parts with absolute precision. We produce almost all the components for our clock mechanisms, such as the wheels, pinions, and axles, while respecting time-honored techniques. An area is also dedicated to the production of traditional brass clock pendulums. For the rare elements we don’t produce in-house, we collaborate closely with local artisans, strengthening the richness of the Franche-Comté region and the value chain of “Made in France.”
The Assembly Workshop: Creating a mechanical clock
In our light-filled workshops, our skilled watchmakers work with passion. On their benches, components come to life, and gears assemble to form complex movements. Every motion is precise, and every part has a role in this mechanical dance that creates time. This total mastery of the assembly and function of each component gives us a unique expertise: since we know how to make a clock, we also know how to repair it. It’s this deep understanding that allows us to bring old mechanisms back to life and ensure our creations’ longevity.
The Test Bench: The rigor of quality control
Our test bench is the final step in the process. Each clock undergoes an intensive battery of tests for eight days, checking both its functionality and the perfection of its finishes. This extreme rigor is our promise: to offer you a clock that is not just beautiful, but a masterpiece of reliability and durability.

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
Since taking over the Manufacture in 2010, Philippe Vuillemin has broken free from the conventions of French mechanical clockmaking while upholding traditional craftsmanship. Instead of conforming to conventional standards, he gives free rein to his inspiration through encounters with artists.
The decision to continue making mechanical clocks in the digital age is in itself an act of disruption. It opposes the dematerialization of time by offering a sensory and tactile experience. By creating pieces that combine the heritage of unique expertise with a decidedly modern aesthetic, Manufacture Vuillemin asserts itself as a key player in the watchmaking of tomorrow, proving that originality is the driving force of longevity.
The fusion of craftsmanship and art gives rise to objects of singular originality. It marks a fascinating encounter where two worlds, though distinct, complement each other to enrich the creative process. The artisan, guardian of ancestral know-how, brings technical mastery, knowledge of materials, and precision of gesture. Their work is often guided by tradition and functionality. The artist, on the other hand, is an explorer of creativity, free from technical constraints and conventions. They breathe in a vision, an emotion, and a break from the ordinary.
The object that results from this collaboration is no longer a simple utilitarian piece, nor a purely decorative work of art. It becomes a hybrid creation, a “craftsmanship of art”. It is a dialogue where the artisan places their expertise at the service of the artist’s vision, and where the artist respects the constraints and possibilities offered by the artisan’s craft. This synergy makes it possible to push the limits of tradition while giving it a new breath of modernity. The result is a unique piece that bears witness to technical prowess, a story, an emotion, and a shared vision. This is the originality of sharing: to transform an object into a living work of art, full of meaning and aesthetic appeal.
LABEL ENTREPRISE DU PATRIMOINE VIVANT
In 2023, La Manufacture Horlogère Vuillemin obtained, for the fourth consecutive time, the EPV label awarded by the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry after rigorous review. This label aims to reward small and medium-sized businesses that embody French industrial or artisanal excellence.
100% French Made
Its criteria focus in particular on the mastery of advanced, renowned, or traditional know-how, generally associated with a specific region. They clearly highlight the high added value of “made in France” manufacturing in the eyes of national and international buyers.
This promotional activity is amplified by the presence of certified companies at major trade shows and by export support.
